What happens when you’re doing all the “right” things… and still feel trapped in fear?
In this episode of Faith Over Pharma, I sit down with Danoucha Reynon to talk about severe PTSD, panic attacks, and what it felt like to be told medication might be a lifelong solution.
She was a young mom with an 18-month-old at home when waves of panic began to take over. Eventually, she was diagnosed with severe PTSD and prescribed antidepressants.
But the deeper questions were never asked.
No one asked about her gut health.
No one asked about inflammation.
No one asked about mold exposure.
No one asked about nervous system regulation.
No one asked about her spiritual life.
This is the gap.
Medication can sometimes stabilize. It can create space. But stabilization is not the same as healing.
True root-cause healing asks:
What is the body holding?
What is the nervous system protecting?
What has never been processed?
We talk about trauma release.
About panic triggers.
About the gut-brain connection.
And about how slowly, intentionally — never cold turkey — Danoucha rebuilt her foundations through detox, nutrition, hydration, PTSD education, and nervous system support.
Over time, she weaned off medication with a plan.
Not rebellion.
Not recklessness.
Discernment.
The most powerful shift in her healing journey wasn’t just physical.
It was spiritual.
We discuss surrender.
Learning which thoughts are yours and which are rooted in fear.
Refusing to let a diagnosis become your identity.
There is a spiritual dimension to anxiety and PTSD that many people are afraid to acknowledge. Ignoring it keeps healing incomplete.
Mind.
Body.
Spirit.
All three matter.
If you’ve been told “this is just your life now”…
If you’re afraid to start medication…
If you’re afraid to stop…
If you feel trapped in a diagnosis loop…
There is hope.
Healing is layered.
It requires wisdom.
It requires support.
But you are not designed to live in fear.
This post is for education and encouragement only and is not medical advice. If you are currently on psychiatric medication, do not stop abruptly. Work with a qualified provider and create a safe, supported plan.
